About Us
The Gites at Le Tilleul is a sympathetically renovated hay barn, comprising two fully-equipped self-catering gites, Le Pommier and Le Cerisier, a large heated swimming pool, playpark, gym and sauna set in 5 acres (home to our free to roam chickens) surrounded by beautiful Charente countryside. The gites have been designed and finished in a rustic french style, with all the charm and character of exposed timbers, stone walls and quirky original features, enhanced by fresh decor and contemporary furnishings and modern appliances.
The grounds are fantastic for kids and adults alike, children will love the pool and spacious grounds to run free – enjoy a game of table tennis, a bounce on the large netted trampoline or one of the many ball games (which include a Boules court and Croquet), in the large open garden. Adults will love the pool, summer terrace, beautiful unspoilt views and the well-equipped gym and sauna.
We are situated in a lovely rural location just outside the quiet little hamlet of Le Lindois, in the south of the Charente, surrounded by farmland and close to the borders of the Dordogne and Limousin. The quaint market town of La Rochefoucauld is just 10 minutes drive away with access to all the restaurants, shopping and the beautiful chateau. The historic city of Angouleme, the capital of Charente, is just 15 minutes further afield.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing break or you wish to explore what the area has to offer, Le Tilleul is a perfect place to base your holiday.With lots to do in the area from the nearby lakes of the Haute Charente with sandy beaches, the adventure park in local Massignac (10 minute drive) to the town of Brantome in the Dordogne, surrounded by the river Dronne (just under an hour's drive) with its pavement cafes, restaurants and large park area, you won't be short of things to do.
Sympathetically renovated, Le Pommier, a former hay barn, offers quality accommodation for 6 - 7, whilst retaining its natural French rustic charm. The large open plan first floor living area offers fantastic southerly views over the Charente countryside from the adjoining balcony.

Summer Terrace
Overlooking the pool, a lovely shaded terrace with American-style fridge/freezer for some al-fresco dining , enjoying a glass of wine or reading your favourite book swinging in the hammock!

Free Wifi (Fibre) in both gites and on the summer terrace. Wide screen TV with HD Satellite reception of UK Freesat channels, French TV Channels, Google Chromecast, Firestick (access to Netflix etc (own subscription needed)), DVD player and Quality Music Speakers
Baby / Toddler Equipment
Cots (1 x travel cot and 2 x wooden cots), 2 x highchairs, 2 x Tripp Trapp chairs, baby baths & bath seat, baby buggies, potties, toilet steps, baby monitors, stairgates, socket covers, baby / toddler crockery, cutlery and sippy cups, black-out blinds are all available for no additional charge on request.
Garden
Set in 5 acres, with stunning views across the Charente countryside, it is the perfect place for a relaxing break situated in south facing gardens
Towels & Linen
All towels, duvets and linen are provided in the gites as well as separate beach towels for the pool .
A small welcome pack, including a few toiletries is also provided on arrival to get your holiday started.
For the Children
Large open garden for the children to play in, with a 14ft netted trampoline, badminton / volleyball, croquet, boules, as well as cricket bats, baseball set, giant jenga, balls and mini football goals. Safe play area, enclosed within a picket fence, with baby and toddler swings, slide, rope ladder, Little Tykes See-Saw, a mini-climbing wall and a decking area for parents to relax and watch the kids.
Pool
The two separate & independent gites share a large (13m x 6m) heated swimming pool (available end May to mid-September) with pool side terrace, sun loungers and sunshade awnings
Gym & Sauna
If you would like a spot of exercise or relaxation the small gym and 4 person sauna (extra charge for sauna) are available for use.
Children's Entertainment
There is also a table tennis area, table football, Giant Jenga & Connect 4 and a darts board for a bit of family fun.
For the gites we can also provide a selection of toys (e.g. Brio train track, wooden garage, bath toys) books, board games, DVDs, Little Tykes Play Car, children's table & chairs and colouring pencils.
The Town of Brantome
'The Venice of the Perigord' - set on the river Dronne this pretty town has a twice-weekly market and lots of restaurants / cafes.
Grand Etang de St Esteph
Lake development with safe swimming area, shady areas with picnic tables, cafes, sandy beach & free kayaking.
Vallée des Singes
A 15-hectare monkey and ape park offering its visitors the discovery of the fascinating world of primates in unique and privileged conditions
Nautilis Aqua Centre, Angouleme
Large Indoor/Outdoor pool complex with water slides and wave maker. Large lake in same area with perimeter footpath and sandy beach.
Adventure Parc
Families can have fun monkeying around at the Go Ape Treetop Adventure Park at Massignac (10 mins), with rope bridges, Tarzan swings, zip wires and more slung amongst the branches at different heights to suit different ages
Cognac Distillery Tours
Famous worldwide for its drink of the same name. Most of the major Cognac houses offer guided tours of their facilities with an opportunity to buy samples of their products at the end.
